Training Basics

Treat Pouches

  1. Doggone Good Rapid Rewards Treat Pouch* - Available at the Summit Training Room, or online!

  2. Cotopaxi Kapai 3L Hip Pack - While this isn’t specifically advertised as a treat pouch, this pack works like a charm. It’s fun, cute, and comes in multiple sizes (though we love this extra large size!). It can be worn in different styles to fit every body type. This pack also has multiple compartments so separating different value reinforces is much simpler. This pouch has so many pockets that you can even add your phone and keys!

  3. Paw LifeStyles Training Pouch - While this pouch is a more standard choice, don’t underestimate it! This pouch holds up well to rough beatings and is capable of containing a decent amount of treats given its relatively small size. This is a great companion for walks around town or your neighborhood where you need something quickly without much preparation.

    • Treat N Train - basic RC dispenser great for many training goals!

    • Arf Pets Treat Dispenser - another basic dispenser at a lower cost point.

    • Pet Tutor - top level technology with phone app control.

  • Training Platform - we LOVE our KLIMBs by Blue-9 Pet Products!

  • Squeeze Tubes - fill with soft food or peanut butter to save your fingers during cold weather training!

Adventure & Walking Gear

harnesses

Both Front & Back Clip Option

  • Freedom Harness* - We love the Freedom Harness for its adjustability, ease of putting on and taking off, and the front and back clip attachment options available in the same harness! This is the harness that we carry at the Summit Training Room store.

  • Ruffwear Front Range Harness - This durable harness has some cool features like reflective piping, an ID tag pocket, and both front and back clips. It is easy to put on, comfortable for the dog, and stays off their shoulders, providing free range of motion. You can also buy a matching collar and leash.

  • Blue9 Pet Products Balance Harness - This harness is expertly designed to provide maximum comfort for your dog. It provides top-notch freedom for your dog’s movement, and highly custom adjustability to fit every breed, age, and size.

  • Ruffwear Hi & Light Lightweight Dog Harness - A classic for many adventurers! Ruffwear is known for their comfortable, well-fitting harnesses and this model is exactly that - a solid, versatile choice for any adventure.

Just Back Clip Option

  • NonStop Dogwear Line Harness 5.0 - This is an excellent piece of adventure equipment, fashioned by and for people who love the outdoors and their dogs! This model is versatile and can be used for many different types of adventures, though are on the pricier end of the spectrum.

leashes & Long-Lines

  • Trust Your Dog Long Line* - Long lines are a fantastic training and adventure tool! Whether you are working on loose leash walking or recall, giving your dog more freedom with a 30-foot line can really help your training by easing tension and encouraging your dog to enjoy healthy activities like sniffing along the trail.  Select sizes and colors are available in the Summit Training Room stores. • Trust Your Dog Euro Leash* - This option is a standard 7-foot lead, but specially designed for many different exact configurations! Whether you’re walking your dog to the paddleboarding launch-point or tethering your dog while you enjoy smores by the campfire, this lead has an option to fit your needs. Select sizes and colors are available in the Summit Training Room stores. Use affiliate code Summitdog10 for 10% off when ordering from the TYDM website!

  • Rawah Dog Outfitters Climbing Rope Long-Line - Made in Cheyenne, WY from recycled climbing rope, these long-lines are another durable option for your hiking adventures with your dog!

Dog Outerwear

Boots

  • Ruffwear Grip Tex Dog Boots - This is a great all-around pair that should work for most terrains and adventures. With a gripped bottom, these can even work for ice and snow. These boots are more firm and thick, so might be uncomfortable if your dog is doing lots of hard running.

  • NonStop Dogwear Protector Bootie - Another versatile pair, with added flexibility and less padding to accommodate more movement.

  • Muttluks - This is a popular product for more urban and suburban environments.

Coats

  • Hurtta Extreme Warmer - This is an excellent all-around, heavy-duty winter coat. It’s insulated and water resistant, but not water-proof. This jacket does have a front flap that could impact front range of motion, so maybe not the best fit for any dogs who are hard running during hikes.

  • Pomppa PerusPomppa - Another fantastic all-around, heavy-duty winter coat! Though it doesn’t cover as much body as the Hurtta Extreme Warmer, it does allow for more range of motion.

  • Pomppa JumppaPomppa - A lighter version for less chilly days!

Cooling Accessories

Lifejackets

tracking tools

  • Fi Dog Collar - This is a popular tracking collar and generally works well, but does not operate outside of service areas. So if you are exploring areas without cell service, this device will not be able to help you. For urban and suburban areas, it’s a great tool.

  • Garmin T 5 & Garmin Astro - While these collars are a real financial investment, the Garmin brand is extremely reliable in all areas, whether cell service is there or not. You will be able to follow your dog’s location in remote areas where no other tracking device would be functional.
