If you’ve graduated a Summit Level 2 class, these advanced class levels are the next steps on your training journey!

Level 3

Building on basic manners for advanced goals and skills, including Canine Good Citizen & Therapy Dog Prep, Tricks, and Intro to Rally Obedience.

 

Level 4

Outdoor Adventure Dog classes focused on living your most adventurous life with your dog!

 

Training Treks - Drop-In Excursion Class

Level 2 graduates & up are invited to join us in monthly drop-in classes held at various locations around Fort Collins. We’ll practice training skills in the real life environments that are part of your daily life with your dog!

At Summit, we offer multiple levels of group classes to help our students meet various advanced training goals. For our students who are committed to training beyond the basics, we offer a flexible group class bundle so that you can save on tuition while still being able to choose your own adventure by selecting the classes that are most important to you and your goals!

Fine-tune your dog’s skills with Level 3 Training Classes!

If you’ve graduated one or more Level 2 classes, you are ready to level up your dog’s skills with a Level 3 class!

Our Level 3 classes focus on developing advanced dog skills and refining your and your dog’s relationship to support you through more challenging adventures!

    • Level 2 Class Graduation with Summit - You must complete at least one Level 2 class within our program before advancing to a Level 3 class. This is to set all of our students up for success and allow our Level 3 classes to be focused on advanced skills. If you enroll in a Level 3 class as your first service with us, we will ask you to reschedule to a Level 2 class first.

    If you believe that you and your dog warrant an exception to this policy based on your previous training together, please contact us before enrolling in a Level 3 class to obtain instructor approval!

CANINE GOOD CITIZEN & THERAPY DOG PREP

This class is for the dog & human team who wants to be model citizens out in the world together. Whether you are looking for above-average manners at home and with neighbors, or preparing for a potential Therapy Dog career, this class will level-up your relationship with your dog and refine their public manners. During class, we practice the skills needed to pass the Canine Good Citizen Evaluation (offered separately after class graduation).

COOPERATIVE CARE DOG TRAINING CLASSES

INTRO TO RALLY OBEDIENCE

Rally Obedience is a fun dog sport that refines your dog's engagement with you, ability to follow complex cues, and heeling/leash walking skills.  It also gives you, the human handler, the opportunity to practice your clear communication and navigating a course of challenges in partnership with your dog.  This class is for those who want to work on advanced dog handling and training in a fun and engaging way!

4 Weeks - $195 

TRICKS!

Trick skills are a great way to enhance your relationship with your dog - what dog doesn't love doing tricks?!  Take a trick class to get started teaching new skills or continue to build on your trick foundations!  This is a great way to practice focus around distractions in a fun and entertaining way!

COOPERATIVE CARE FOR GROOMING & VET VISITS

Join us for this class all about teaching our dogs to participate in their own care routines.  Cooperative Care is training and conditioning for more peaceful vet visits, grooming, and at-home care.  You and your dog will both learn processes for making these experiences the happiest for everyone involved.  Your vet and groomer will thank you!

4 Weeks - $195

You can take one or more of these classes (in any order) before moving on to Level 4.
Many of our students and their dogs benefit from taking several of these topical classes (in any order) before moving on to Level 4.

  • Level 3 Canine Good Citizen & Therapy Dog Prep Class Learning Objectives

    ​​Teaching you about advanced training skills, including the Canine Good Citizen evaluation and first steps towards therapy dog work, and teaching your dog above-average manners for whatever fun activities you want to tackle together next!

    Human Learning Objectives: Learning about the Canine Good Citizen Evaluation & Future Therapy Dog Goals

    • Setting up advanced manners practice opportunities for your dog’s success

    • Understanding the components of the Canine Good Citizen Evaluation

    • Exploring therapy dog work as a potential career for your dog, and the skills necessary to become a Therapy Dog team

    Dog Learning Objectives: Above-Average Manners & Skills

    • Building on skills from previous levels for more advanced manners to Complete the Requirements of the AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluation

    • Advanced leash walking, coming when called, sit & down stays, polite greetings, body handling, and more.

  • Level 3 Intro to Rally Obedience Learning Objectives

    ​​Teaching you and your dog about advanced training skills and the dog sport of Rally Obedience, whether you plan to compete or just fine-tune your training skills for other adventures!

    Human Learning Objectives: Learning about the dog sport of Rally Obedience

    • Understanding the components of navigating a Rally course & learning the Rally signs.

    • Reducing reliance on cues like your leash and treats in order to navigate a Rally course together.

    • Supporting your dog to advanced skills like precision heeling and prompt cue responses necessary for Rally - and other adventures!

    Dog Learning Objectives: Rally Obedience Skills

    • Tight heeling & pivot turns for navigating through obstacles (in real life or a Rally Obedience course) with teamwork

    • Responding to cues promptly and working despite distractions

    • Endurance of training skills for completing many requests from you in sequence between reinforcement opportunities - useful both in the Rally course and beyond!

  • Level 3 Tricks! Learning Objectives

    Learn new training concepts to advance your relationship and communication with your dog, all the while getting your dog ready to wow your friends and family with a fun set of tricks! You and your dog have the option to evaluate for your Novice Trick Dog title (from AKC) at the end of this class.

    Human Learning Objectives: Teaching Tricks

    • Learn how to teach your dog a variety of “trick” behaviors, including any wild-card trick that you and your dog can imagine together!

    • Apply advanced training concepts such as shaping, luring, capturing, looping, back-chaining, and more!

    • Add duration and generalization to your dog’s skills as you proof and refine their trick repertoire!

    Dog Learning Objectives: Trick Skills

    • Learn how to do a variety of tricks, such as navigating props in different ways, picking up their toys, and any other tricks that you can imagine together!

    • Expand their vocabulary as they learn how to associate new cues with their new trick behaviors.

    • Practice paying close attention to your directions and cues so that they can perform their tricks (and other skills) quickly and reliably!

  • Level 3 Cooperative Care Class Learning Objectives

    ​​Teaching you about Cooperative Care and training for husbandry routines, and teaching your dog how to feel comfortable with handling for veterinary, grooming and at-home care.

    Human Learning Objectives: Cooperative Care

    • Exploring Cooperative Care for relationship-building with your dog

    • Creating a training plan for your dog’s expected husbandry needs

    Dog Learning Objectives: Cooperative Care Skills

    • Learning positive associations for grooming & veterinary care routines

    • Routines such as: nail clipping, brushing, restraint for exam, blood draws, and more

    • How to communicate with you about when they are ready for care routine to start

    • How to “opt-in” and “opt-out” of care routines clearly and safely

Graduates of Level 2 and up are invited to join our monthly drop-in Training Trek excursions! Practice your training skills in real-life environments on mini-adventures around Fort Collins.

Master your dog’s skills with Level 4 Classes!

If you’ve graduated one or more Level 3 classes, you are ready to level up your dog’s skills once again with a Level 4 class!

Our Level 4 classes focus on generalizing your dog’s advanced training skills to more environments and continuing to build excellent communication between you and your dog.

    • Level 3 Class Graduation with Summit - You must complete at least one Level 3 class within our program before advancing to a Level 4 class. Please note that the next level of Rally Obedience at Level 4 (Rally Novice) specifically requires completion of the Level 3 Intro to Rally class first.

Adventure Dog

Summit’s Capstone Course

We all love a good adventure, and it's always better with our dogs by our side!  This class is all about fine-tuning our dogs’ skills for use in distracting environments like the hiking trail or city center!  We’ll cover essential Trail Skills like coming when called, yielding the trail to others, sit & down stay while distractions pass by, as well as Safety Skills such as emergency stop in position & get behind you, and more! This class will also include training skills for passing the AKC’s Canine Good Citizen Advanced & Canine Good Citizen Urban evaluations. Each week of class is held in a different location around Fort Collins.

6 Weeks - $275

 

Rally Novice

Rally Novice builds on the foundations of Rally you learned in Intro to Rally Obedience! You will continue to refine and polish your and your dog's skills to master the Rally Novice level signs, through running full courses and troubleshooting challenges. Additionally, you will start to work your dog off-leash in preparation for moving on to the Rally Advanced level.

6 Weeks - $275


Rally Advanced+

Rally Advanced+ builds the skills you've been developing throughout Rally Novice! You will continue to refine and polish you and your dog's skills to master the Rally Advanced level signs, through running full courses and troubleshooting challenges. Rally Advanced+ continues to review and improve on skills covered in previous Rally levels, while also introducing the Excellent course signs. Students training at this level are encouraged to repeat this class as desired.

Drop-In - $45/Class
