We offer our Private Dog Training Lessons in these formats!
Lessons at Our Facility: We teach lessons at our facility for all sorts of behavior goals, from raising a new puppy to navigating behavior challenges like reactivity. We have set up our facility to help you and your dog be most successful right from the start - and then increase the difficulty by moving to harder environments when your dog’s skills are ready! These lessons are valuable even for resolving behavior that “only happens at home” - we’re pretty good at being creative and creating productive practice opportunities in our training room for any goal!
Lessons at Your Home (& Other Fort Collins Locations): We teach lessons at your home - or other applicable dog-friendly locations around town. This service is available on a more limited basis than our facility lessons, but if you feel like this is the right choice for your dog and behavior goals, let us know and we’d love to discuss this with you! Please note that we do have an additional travel fee for lessons further than 4 miles from our training facility. Note: Most of our students start in lessons at our facility and move to out & about lessons or home visits for advanced lessons.
Virtual Dog Training Lessons: Held online wherever you are in the world! Lessons are held via Google Meet and include discussion, demo, training video and plan review, and more.

During your Discovery Call, the Summit Admin Team will listen to your training goals and challenges and answer general questions about our training processes; at the end of your call, if Private Dog Training Lessons are right for you, they will help to match your availability with a Summit Trainer so that you can get started!
Step 2: PURCHASE YOUR PRIVATE LESSON Trail Blazer PACKAGE & Get started with Training!
All of our students start their Private Dog Training Lesson training journeys with us with our Trail Blazer Package.

Once you have purchased your Trail Blazer Package, the Summit Admin team will work with you to schedule your private lessons.

Travel Fees: Lessons at our Training Room Facility or within 4 miles of driving distance (one way) do not incur any travel fees. Lessons at locations (home visits, hiking trails, parks, etc.) within 4-10 miles of driving distance from our training room incur a $15 travel fee per lesson in addition to lesson tuition. Lessons at locations (home visits, hiking trails, parks, etc.) within 10-20 miles of driving distance from our training room incur a $45 travel fee per lesson. These travel fees help to offset the costs of our trainers’ time, gasoline, and car maintenance funds.

Step 3: Pursue additional training as recommended by your Summit Trainer
The Trail Blazer Private Lesson Package is a starting point on your training journey with your dog. Depending on your dog’s behavior challenges and progress, additional training support may be needed after completion of your Trail Blazer package. During your wrap-up lesson at the end of your package, your Summit Trainer will make the best recommendation for next training steps to align with your needs and goals with your dog from one of the following paths:
Trail Refresher Private Lesson Packages - Additional private lesson bundles for continued & consistent training support. 2 Hours for $325 & 4 Hours for $600.
Trail Maintenance Private Lesson Subscription - 2 x 45 Minute Lessons per month with your Summit trainer for ongoing support for your long-term training goals. $175/month.
Join a Group Class! - Continue to practice your dog’s skills in a group environment at your Summit trainer’s recommendation.

Most of our new private program students start with a Trail Blazer package at our Training Facility.
Lessons at locations other than our training room are generally offered to students who have completed their Trail Blazer program with us and are ready for more advanced help!
If you feel that you need an exception to this, please let us know and we are happy to discuss this with you. We do offer limited new student Trail Blazer packages as home visits on a case-by-case basis.

We schedule our session just like any other appointment, except that we meet virtually in a Zoom Video Conferencing room. We go in-depth about your goals and challenges with your dog(s), and then we work out a training plan. Just like our in-person lessons in Colorado, this plan may include multiple components including, but not limited to, Management, Training, Behavior Modification, Enrichment, and Exercise. For follow-up sessions, we discuss progress and further challenges and then move on to the next step of the training plan when you and your dog are ready.

For any homework that we want to give you and your dog to work on together, we will discuss this in detail during our session (we're really good about explaining things hands-off - we practice this at our in-person sessions with reactive dog students every day!) and also provide you with any applicable handouts and video links for additional support.

Whether we meet once or multiple times, we are available to answer emailed questions about any of the things you are working on with your dog that we covered in our session! If your question can be answered in under 5 minutes, we’ll happily do that between our other sessions. If you have videos for us to review, or need a longer explanation or more detailed modification to your behavior training plan, we can schedule an “offline” lesson on our calendar (charged to your package or card on file) to get you that detailed email & video review support!

Our passion is teaching humans how to teach their dogs - because of this, we practice a mostly hands-off teaching approach even with our in-person clients. We believe that the real, lasting change comes from improving your confidence and know-how in your dog training skills and thus boosting your relationship with your own dog - something that can't always be achieved as easily when handing over the leash to a dog trainer and letting them build that rapport with your dog instead. So while there are certainly a few skills and challenges that may be more difficult to fully master in the online session format (and we have a great referral network of trainers all over the country for those cases!), we are certain that whatever the scenario, we can help you make progress to your goals with your best adventure buddy.
